L.H.S. Tennis Teams Win Three Straight Victories, April 26, 1935

The Leesburg High School Tennis teams have turned in three straight victories, the past  two weeks, over such formidable opponents as Tavares, who they have played twice, and Mount Dora. The scores of the matches have been by far successful, as the racquet slingers of L. H. S. have won 18 out of their 22 matches. Among the players for Leesburg are: Boys, Billy Abney, R. Anderson, T. Hanford, N. Searcy, Geo Davis, Billy Davis. Girls, Dot Hetsch, S. Bergmaier and Louise Wink.

The scores of the matches have been:

Boys-L. H. S., 6; Tavares 0.
Boys-L. H. S., 6; Tavares, 3.
Boys and Girls-L. H. S., 6; Mt. Dora, 1.

LEESBURG - The Lady Jackets of Leesburg High School picked up an impressive win over its Marion County rival Ocala Vanguard High School 7-0. Stephanie Myers, Monicka Leware, Audrey Bihlin, Reny Tyson, Megan Hicks and Sarah Hicks all picked up wins in their singles matches.

Myers and Blin and Leware and Tyson each dominated in their doubles matches.

The Lady Jackets hosts Lake Weir today at 3:30 p.m.

UMATILLA - The Lady Jackets of Leesburg High School displayed their dominance with a 7-0 win over Umatilla in Girls High School Tennis. Leesburg improved its record to 2-0 with the win. Monika Leware (8-3), Stephanie Meyers (8-0), Megan Hicks (8-0), Sarah Hicks (8-3) and Audrey Vihlin (8-1) all won their singles matches. 

Leware and Myers (8-0) and also sisters Megan and Sarah Hicks won their doubles matches.

Leesburg will face the Tavares Bulldogs at Lake-Sumter Community College Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
